This is my first ever published beauty blog entry so bear with me as I ramble…
Angi bought samples from the Metal and Water parts of this collection so that I could test them out and review here. I purposefully picked these colors as it seemed to be a nice mix of shades that I am normally drawn to and use in real life as well as some that I do not normally use (for the record I have been primarily using all shades of blue, purple and green since I was sixteen years old. Typically the brighter, the better!).
So let’s start with photo set number one shall we?
For eyeshadow colors in this look, I used the following with no primer:
“Black Tortoise” = liner around both of my eyes.
“Azure Dragon” = all over lid color on both of my eyes.
“Descension” in the crease of both.
“New Yang” as brow highlighter and blended into all of it.
These shadows are very pigmented, which I love because it means that you get the application that you want primarily in one shot and you don’t have to keep reapplying to get the color level desired. By the by, I did not use a primer even though Angie offered for me to use one of hers.
On my cheeks I used “White Tiger”, which looked a little too purple (I am very pale and use blush every now and then but it’s usually muted pink shades or sometimes this crazy neon pink that I have) so I layered the Water shade to tone the purple down.
I am wearing the “North” lipstick in these pictures. To be completely honest here, I did not think that this shade was going to look good in any way on me. In the tube it looks extremely red/purple and in my experiences with lip colors, these are not typically ones that end up looking decent on me. But surprise! I actually really love this color. It’s like a wine red on my mouth and it does not look weird at all. I will wear this more often now that I know what it looks like on. I really like the glide of the lipstick and most importantly, it does not smell or taste like anything. If you were ever someone that used L’Oreal lipstick back in the 1990’s, you will know about the horrid smell and taste of those lipsticks which pretty much scarred me for life in using conventional brands. They smelled and tasted like poison, which I now realize makes sense as they actually are (poison). Thank you, Hello Waffle for making a lip product that does not contain or taste/smell like death!
Time for photo set number two!
Eyeshadow colors pictured here are:
“Contraction” as the eyeliner.
“Metal” all over the lids.
“Full Yang” as the brow highlighter and blended in with “Metal”.
Metal is a very, very matte gray. This would be a Steampunk devotees’ best friend as a cosmetic.
On my cheeks here I used “Reed” which was a matte mauve so again, I used “Water” to tone it just like I did in the first photo set. I think using the “Water” color (hehe see what I did there?) as a blush on it’s own will end up being my best bet for future use.
I am wearing the “West” lipstick in these pictures. It’s an interesting shade, I think a pinkish lilac is the best way that I can describe it. I told Angie that I think that it looks very alien-esque and would looks super pretty with a clear gloss over it.
Hello Waffle is totally new to me so I have very much enjoyed trying parts of this makeup line! I look forward to seeing and playing with future releases.
