Bonus: Art of Horror

Hi lovelies!

Since we didn't do a proper update this week, we're hitting for every other wednesday, I thought you might like a sneak peek at next week's 'Will It Polish...?'!  First, a little context...

Burlington, VT has a thriving and supportive art community and one of the defining events of the season is the annual opening night of the Art of Horror Exhibition hosted at The S.P.A.C.E Gallery.  It's a spectacular event featuring talent from all over the state.  I am proud to say that many of my friends take part in this event and it provides me an excellent excuse to actually leave the house. ;)

Costumes are encouraged and while I always have grand plans, my free time is super limited this time of year.  But, you know I didn't go without at least dressing up my nails!  Here's where the sneak peek comes in...

Corvus Cosmetics’ Mothman polished, stamped with a drug store white using Vivid Lacquer’s plate vl013.  All topped off with a coat of CrowsToes’ ‘Hell Hath No Fury’ and Seche Vite.  Apologies for the glue fleck on the label. ¬.¬  These photos also hint at my one quarrel with Seche Vite.  You can see where I've touched up the tips.  While being an awesome quick-dry, super-shine top coat, it does 'shrink' sometimes as it dries, leaving a tiny sliver of bare nail.

All in all, it was an excellent evening with excellent people.  Since Allee and Mike missed opening night, I'll be taking them to see the exhibit some other time this month.  If there's interest, I'd be happy to take photos of our day out!  Let me know in the comments!

Will It Polish...? Rascal Cosmetics' 'Wild Animals'

Our first ever 'Will It Polish...?' features three shadows from Rascal Cosmetics’ Wild Animals collection!

Disclosure: Samples come in 1/4t baggies. We bought these with our own spendie-monies

As with most shadow-to-polishes, the first coat was sheer and streaky.  When this happens, and I cannot stress this enough, don’t pile it on and don’t play with it!  As much as you’re going to want to, just let the first layer dry as it is!  The second layer smooths out the color beautifully and a third brought these to full coverage.  All the pictures below are 3 thin coats and one coat of Seche Vite.

Mica, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tin oxide, red #40, yellow #5, carnauba wax, magnesium myristate.

A medium teal with greenish gold shift and loaded with turquoise sparkle.
Mica, titanium dioxide, carnauba wax, magnesium myristate, chromium oxide, blue #1 hydrogenated polyisobutene, palmitic acid, calcium aluminium borosilicate.

A shimmery rosy copper.
